So I'm usually one for cringing at the sounds of children singing (yeah, yeah, save it) but this rendition of God Only Knows broke my heart and brought a single tear to my eye.
The album is just a recording from a school choir performance in rural Western Canada in the 70s, passed down from teacher to teacher until somebody re-discovered the folky charm. It makes me nostalgic for a childhood I didn't exactly live myself– especially when they break out the chimes. The entire album is glorious, especially their covers of Space Oddity and I'm Into Something Good.
Since these songs are part of a real-life record label, I feel considerably less creepy listening to this all day than, say, when I watch people's home movies of their babies opening Christmas presents on Youtube.
